This week, we’re looking at female villains, queens of evil, and bad girls! That’s everyone from the Rani to River Song. It’s interesting scouring the Doctor Who back catalogue for particular themes as you get to notice patterns. Aside from Kaftan and one or two others, there are very few female baddies at all until the Fourth Doctor era. I wonder how this reflects on changing sexual politics? It probably has a lot to say about ideas of female agency. So, this week we’re raising a glass to the Queens of Mean! – Code Nine x
